Doujin Overload 2008
Oh, dear… I’ve been hacked and denied access for a few weeks. Now that things are setted, I can go about updating this blog. I miss it so much ~_~
I seriously didn’t expect my second semester of 2008 would be so hectic. That, plus the storm and costant rain here in Auckland which caused everything to be so gloomy. The sky is clear as I’m typing this entry, but I can still hear the sky rumbling.
This is a looooong overdue entry about the event I attended on… er… July 27. Yes, so long ago ~_~
The wind was pretty strong that day, and being the idiot that I was, I didn’t bother to check the weather services. It turned out that last Saturday recorded the worse storm in the last decade, which resulted in three deaths and a crap load of damages. But anyway, I went to the event with Mira and Kaara (the latter joined us a bit later) after mine and Mira’s scheduled meeting with our course coordinator, Sheryl. When we reached Mercure Hotel, we were almost frozen.
There were several cosplayers at the entrance; Kuchiki Rukia mulling over her pink handphone got me gigling before I went through the door to see the works on display and on sale by the exhibitor.
Go on reading for random pics and (cosplay) performance videos.
The first table that I saw… was shounen-ai and yaoi stuff by Rinelle Kung (some of you might know her from Deviantart, because that’s how I recognise her works). I was squealing with glee at the single fact that the genres were involved in the small event. I bought her 2009 Yaoi Star Sign Calendar for the fun of it. The glossy print quality was irresistable, so don’t blame me for it.
That’s only the start of me wasting money like water on the event.
There were many talented artists around, and chibi character sketches and art are all around the place, looking cute and begging to be bought. Like these badges I couldn’t resist buying.
Tables selling genuine stuff were also there, selling figurines, licensed mangas, artbooks, etc etc. That was how I came across a table selling loads of Code Geass stuff, including the Prop Petit Plus and Geass Fortune Telling. I wasted money and tried my luck on 4 PPPs and 2 fortunes. I got wonderful sets of PPPs, all different types, 2 Lulus and 2 Suzakus. I had fun switching their heads and bodies when I got back from the event. I didn’t get what I wanted for the fortunes, though. I got Orenji-kun and Viletta, which I think I’m going to put on sale soon (unopened from the plastic, but out of the pyramid plastic bag).
I so enjoy switching their heads and making dramas out of them! See:
I bought a doujinshi and some random posters that caught my eyes too. Hehe…
There were Final Fantasy piano solo performances every fixed time interval, and I got to see the cosplayers performed the Motteke Sailor Fuku Dance, and the closing performance of Hona Sainara (from BuriMyu). Below are the videos I managed to take from where I was standing.
Motteke Sailor Fuku Dance (minus the fukus, though)

The HUGE prizes for the art competition

I never did get over my liking for Magic Knight Rayearth, so yay for Hikaru and Mokona!

I saw this guy with SuzakuxLelouch bad and went “OMG, he must be a yaoi fanboy!”
